A Day in Chicago with The Urban Canopy Compost Club Crew

Today, I had the pleasure of hanging out with the dynamic team at The Urban Canopy compost Club in Chicago. They're doing something spectacular, and I’m here to capture it all for a fresh photo campaign.

What The Urban Canopy Does

The Urban Canopy offers an amazing program called the Compost Club. This is Chicago's best food waste and compostables collection service. They make it easy for residents to join the local food cycle, supporting urban farms and agriculture. This initiative reduces waste and enriches the soil used in urban farming. More info at

Capturing the Magic

First stop: the office. We snapped some great shots of their products and brainstormed commercial concepts. Next, we hit the warehouse—where the real magic happens. The industrial setting was perfect for gritty, authentic photos.

After that, we explored the neighborhood, finding unique spots like alleys and sidewalks that added an urban vibe to the shots. A quick stop at Taco Bell for a bean and cheese burrito fueled me up for the rest of the day.

Wrapping Up

Finally, I met back up with my lead, Emily, at one of their offsite kitchens. We captured environmental and action shots of the team in their element. We wrapped up with some outdoor shots, catching the last light of the day.
